Job Role – Commis I

As a Commis I, you will be an essential part of the culinary team, supporting senior chefs in delivering exceptional dishes across various kitchen sections. This role is ideal for individuals who have foundational kitchen experience and are ready to grow in a structured, high-standard environment.

You will gain hands-on exposure to professional kitchen operations while contributing to the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes that meet Sofitel’s luxury standards.


Key Responsibilities

🍽️ Food Preparation & Execution

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to established recipes and standards
  • Ensure all ingredients are prepared, measured, and ready for service
  • Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning

🧼 Hygiene & Safety

  • Follow strict hygiene and food safety regulations (HACCP standards)
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your assigned workstation
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of all food items

👥 Team Support

  • Work closely with Chef de Partie and Sous Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Support team members during busy service periods
  • Follow instructions and contribute positively to the kitchen environment

📦 Inventory & Organization

  • Assist in stock rotation (FIFO method) and proper storage of ingredients
  • Monitor ingredient freshness and report any issues
  • Help minimize waste through efficient kitchen practices

Requirements

Sofitel is looking for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts and eager to learn in a luxury hospitality environment.

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef or similar role in a hotel or restaurant
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations
