As a Talabat picker, what will you do?

As a Talabat picker, your essential job is to complete grocery orders placed through the Talabat digital platform. Once the customer orders through the Talabat app, the warehouse team will confirm the stock availability, and then next! That’s your part that will start. Your responsibility is to take that order. Pick from the warehouse bins or shelves in the picking area, pick them accurately, and send them to the packing section promptly.

Accuracy and speed matter; that’s Talabat’s specialty. So you have to stay focused the whole time, from the moment you get the picking sheet until you hand it to the packing section after double-checking. Order inaccuracies will negatively affect the customer and add extra work for the team, which will affect the brand name. Except for order picking, you will handle stock receiving upon delivery, stack goods on shelves and in bins, and assist the warehouse team with other required tasks. These will be your daily operational tasks and responsibilities. Your role as a delivery rider is vital throughout the entire delivery chain.

Core Responsibilities:

As a picker in the Taalabat warehouse and store, your day-to-day tasks will be:

  • Picking and completing orders: Once the warehouse receives the order list, the team leader or dispatcher will hand you the picking sheet. Pick the quantity of the customer order accurately using a barcode scanner. Pay attention to every item’s accuracy and quantity, as well as expiry dates. Every item that you pick must be in good condition and fresh, without any damage.
  • Stock Receiving: When the warehouse receives the goods, coordinate with the warehouse team to inspect the items, verify the quantity against the delivery note, separate damaged items, and assist with offloading the stock. Stack it according to the FIFO method, and take extra care of fragile items such as glass bottles, jars, egg racks, and frozen items.
  • Packing and separating: Once picking is complete, carefully bring those items to the packing area where orders are being prepared for dispatch. Assist with packing orders with exact delivery numbers without delay.
  • Keep your assigned location area clean; sweep; clean the shelves and bins; and remove waste.
  • Team spirit: You will work with multicultural team members in the warehouse; a friendly attitude and clear communication are highly valuable to ensure smooth team operations. Inform your supervisor if there’s any conflict situation, especially during rush hours.
  • Monthly target: Every month, you have an achievable picking and packing target during the monthly fulfillment operation assigned by the supervisor. The company will provide the training before starting the job.
  • Shelf and bin location control: You will conduct recycling checks and ensure products are in the correct locations and at the right temperature. Follow the first-in, first-out method by bringing forward the old stock and stacking the new items behind on the shelf. Inform the warehouse team leader or supervisor of the running low stock levels.

This vacant job suits the following:

This position is totally open to any nationality—three pages of CV, multiple training certificates, or a degree. What you must have is the passion, trust, and focus to work harder. Having the right friendly attitude and passion will keep you going all day long. For those looking for a job in the supply chain industry, this opportunity is the perfect way to start building a foundation. Through Talabat, you will experience advanced technology warehouse procedures, exposure to high-tech systems, and so much more. Those who love a secure job and career growth opportunities at a well-established company with over 20 years of history will find it remarkable in their career path.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school educational background or a relevant supply chain or logistics certificate.
  • Minimum one year of experience in warehouse operations or store operations.
  • Basic understanding of reading, speaking, and writing in English. Urdu and Hindi are a plus.
  • Willing to carry heavy objects and stand for long periods.
  • Aware of RF guns, warehouse management, and Oracle systems.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Excel and spreadsheets.
  • Willing to work on rotation at shifts.
  • Team spirit and friendly attitude.

Talabat

Talabat’s warehouse, which it calls a ‘dark store’, is built for fast order fulfillment. The warehouse has been divided into several locations based on whether they are dry or cold. Usually, the regular working hours are 8 hours per day, with a 1-hour rest break, plus 1 day off per week. They have rotational shifts throughout the day due to the nonstop 24/7 operation. During the summer, the warehouse gets busier, and additional staff must be able to work overtime. Even for work on public holidays, the company pays double wages in accordance with UAE labor law.
