About the Hotel
Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay is one of the city’s most prestigious luxury addresses, set in the vibrant West Bay district with views of the Doha skyline and the Arabian Gulf. Known for graceful service and attention to detail, the hotel welcomes guests from around the world who expect nothing less than exceptional care. We are now looking for a qualified, responsible Female Lifeguard to join our Recreation and Wellness team and help keep our pool and leisure areas safe, clean, and welcoming.
Position Overview
As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of every guest using our swimming pools and related leisure facilities. You will supervise swimmers, prevent accidents, respond quickly to emergencies, and offer friendly, professional service. Your calm presence and sharp awareness will give guests the confidence to relax and enjoy their time at the hotel. This role is open to female candidates, to support guests using our ladies’ and female-only swimming areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the pool areas at all times, scanning continuously and staying alert to any sign of danger
- Respond immediately to emergencies, performing rescues, first aid, CPR, and AED use as needed
- Enforce pool rules and hotel safety regulations politely and consistently
- Welcome guests, explain pool etiquette, and help with towels, sun loungers, and general queries
- Test and record water quality readings (chlorine, pH, temperature) according to hotel standards
- Keep the pool deck, changing areas, and equipment clean, tidy, and safe
- Inspect rescue equipment, first aid kits, and safety signage daily, and report any defects
- Complete incident reports accurately and promptly, and inform the supervisor of any accidents or concerns
- Pay special attention to children, elderly guests, and weaker swimmers
- Work with the Recreation, Spa, Housekeeping, and Engineering teams to maintain a seamless guest experience
- Take part in regular safety drills, training sessions, and refresher courses
Requirements
- Valid lifeguard certification (such as NPLQ, RLSS, Red Cross, or an equivalent internationally recognised qualification)
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
- Proven swimming ability and physical fitness to perform rescues
- Previous experience as a lifeguard, ideally in a hotel, resort, or health club setting
- Good spoken English; Arabic or other languages are an advantage
- Strong observation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- A warm, professional attitude and a genuine commitment to guest safety
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
- Neat, well-groomed appearance in line with luxury hotel standards
- Eligibility to work in Qatar, or willingness to be sponsored where applicable
