| Location | UAE |

Behind every great meal there is a kitchen team keeping everything moving, and the people who prep, clean and support the chefs rarely get the credit they deserve. Blue Oasis is hiring Kitchen Staff in the UAE, and it’s a solid opening if you want to start, or keep building, a career in food service.
About the Role
As Kitchen Staff, you’ll be the right hand of the chefs and cooks. You’ll help prepare ingredients, keep stations clean and organised, and make sure the kitchen runs smoothly from the first prep job of the day to the last wipe-down at night. It’s hands-on, busy and sometimes tiring, but it’s also one of the best ways to learn how a professional kitchen really works.
Plenty of respected chefs started somewhere like this. Learning how a kitchen moves, how food is stored safely and how a team talks to each other under pressure gives you a foundation that no course can fully replace.
What the Job Involves
- Washing, peeling, chopping and preparing ingredients as instructed by the chefs
- Setting up and organising kitchen stations before service
- Assisting cooks with basic cooking and plating tasks
- Washing dishes, pots, pans and kitchen equipment
- Receiving deliveries and storing stock correctly, with the oldest items used first
- Labelling food and keeping fridges and storerooms tidy
- Cleaning floors, surfaces and equipment to hygiene standards
- Disposing of waste properly and keeping the kitchen safe
- Supporting the team during busy hours and following the chef’s instructions
A Typical Day, in Plain English
You arrive, change into your uniform and check what needs doing. Early on, it’s mostly prep: washing, peeling, chopping and getting stations ready. Then service begins and things speed up. Orders come in, plates go out, pots pile up and you keep everything flowing. When the rush ends, the kitchen gets cleaned properly, food is labelled and stored, and you reset for the next day. It’s a rhythm, and once you find it, it feels surprisingly satisfying.
What Blue Oasis Is Looking For
- Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, hotel or catering setting is preferred
- A willingness to learn quickly and take instructions well
- Good teamwork and a positive attitude when things get busy
- Physical stamina for standing, lifting and working long hours
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
- Enough English to follow instructions and communicate with the team
- Flexibility with shifts, weekends and public holidays
What Makes a Good Kitchen Helper
The best Kitchen Staff aren’t always the fastest on day one. They’re the ones who listen, ask when they’re unsure and keep their station tidy without being reminded. Chefs notice that quickly. If you clean as you go, label what you store and speak up before a small mistake becomes a big one, you’ll earn trust faster than you expect.
Safety matters just as much as speed. Wet floors, hot pans and sharp knives are part of every kitchen, so a calm, careful approach protects both you and your colleagues. Wear your uniform and safety gear properly, and always follow the chef’s instructions on equipment you haven’t used before.
It also helps to look after yourself. Comfortable, non-slip shoes, drinking enough water between tasks and getting proper rest before a long shift make a real difference to how you feel by closing time.
Growing From Here
Kitchen Staff who show up on time, learn fast and respect hygiene rules get noticed. In many UAE kitchens, a reliable helper can move up to commis, then chef de partie and beyond. It won’t happen overnight, but this is where it starts. Salary, accommodation, meals, transport and visa details are confirmed directly by the employer, so ask about them calmly at the interview.
Tips to Help You Stand Out
- Be honest about your experience. Kitchens value someone who says they’re learning over someone who pretends.
- Mention any food hygiene training or certificates you have.
- Ask about shift timings and rest days so there are no surprises later.
- Keep your CV simple, clear and one page, with your phone number at the top.
