Job structure at LPM as a receiver

This isnt so challenging job compared with mass warehouses or stores. But this requires attention to detail, accuracy, and speed. This role takes a vital part in the whole operation. So this position carries out a lot of high responsibilities.

  • Every single morning, once you’ve done the purchasing, the delivery drivers will come from many areas with many items. Your task is to communicate with them, get the items, and make sure everything is correct according to the delivery notes.
  • Once you have received the delivery goods, such as dry items, fresh meats and seafood, vegetables, etc, you’re responsible for inspecting the items carefully and verifying, especially the meat and seafood items, that it has to be at the right temperature, the freshness of the vegetables with min damages, and the goodness of the quality for the required products in the kitchen.
  • Recording and updating in the system is essential. The inventories that you received every morning have to be recorded in the system as well as filed in hard copies. Make sure your inputing the exact information that will not lead to discrepancies or errors.
  • Store organization. This is like a gem in the restaurant. what foh and boh require things are there? So make sure the goods are according to the FIFO systems, stacked in safety way and properly organised to be picked.
  • You will have to coordinate with every department to fulfill their goods requirements. Kitchen staff, front of house, cleaning or stewarding staff, and the audit team. What’s most important is that what they request has to be on time without being delayed.
  • Follow the food hygiene methods according to the UAE food and safety laws and HACCP regulations. Always check the dates of expiry, the right temperature in chillers, and the dry goods area as well.
  • Above and beyond all these tasks, one of the vital job tasks is coordinating vendors and suppliers. This is not just a check-box-tick job; it’s a job that requires you to go the extra mile for the operation. So this goods receiving operation has to be balanced. It’s in your hands.

Requirements and skill set

LPM is not looking for a perfect experienced clerk for receiving. What they value is the passion, the hunger to learn, and being a critical thinker. What La petite maison is looking for in you is

  • At least 2 years of proven working experience in a warehouse or a store as a receiver.
  • Diploma in supply chain or business administration.
  • A great team player. This job requires patience and endurance, so working with multiple sections requires good support to achieve the goals as a team.
  • Working under pressure is another skill that LPM highly requires. There will be time departments run out of things unexpectedly, and your job is to assist them in providing the requiremets of goods.
  • The physical health candidate has to be strong in fitness to lift boxes, move objects, and stand for long hours.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Google Spreadsheets, and inventory systems.
  • Well, speaking English verbally, you will coordinate with people from different cultures, so the language of speaking English has to be perfect. Additionally, if you can speak Arabic or french would be an advantage.

A day at LPM as a receiving clerk

Once your morning schedule starts, confirm the morning deliveries. Most deliveries will be early morning, even before the restaurant opens. Clean your receiving area to keep the items in a proper and safe manner. Once they arrive, do the counting, check the quality, and follow the payment procedure. After the morning deliveries are done, you will have a job in the store to check the items’ stock, expiry dates, and quality, and re arangings. Visit departments and reassure them about the request for the goods and confirm the deliveries; these duties ususally on going mid day and eventually, in the afternoon,n you will do the paperwork. Updating the records in the systems, filing the invoices and other documents, inspecting the damaged and returns, and making sure that the next day deliveries are confirmed and prepared. So usually this will be a typical day in an LPM restaurant as a receiving clerk . Aside from this, you will have some more responsibilities regarding the operational flows.
