The Role Play

This is not a mechanical job; you will work with a digital system that moves you into shelves and racks. As a picker in the MAF retail supermarket environment, you will be carrying out the responsibilities of online grocery order fulfillment. The job is fast, and being 100% accurate matters. Checking expiry dates, following FIFO methods, and avoiding mismatches or discrepancies are some of the tasks which includes to the role.

Day-to-day operation

These will be your daily operational tasks at MAF Retail. Every day has a rhythm; some days are super busy, and some are not. But most importantly, how to put your efforts into this business to maximize customer satisfaction.

• Every single day, you will receive a picking list through the online system, and your responsibility is to fulfill the order rapidly and accurately. Once you have the list, go to the shelves or rack which iteare are located and mentioned in the list, and scanned by using an RF gun or barcode scanner. Separate the picked items into a basket or trolley.
• In the meantime, your responsibility is to check the quality of the items that you pick every time. The package, expiry date of food items, or it could be frozen items that have to meet the expectation of quality. If you found something that is not good to be pick dont use it even if it’s the last piece.MAF retail always follows the high standard of customer service.
• If there’s an item which has out of stock at the moment, your responsibility will be to inform the supervisor about the item and details as soon as possible. Update it in the system and contact the customer to politely inform them about the OOS item and try to upsell a similar brand without forcing. This helps both the customer and the organisation to keep the operation smooth and reliable.
• Rearrange the shelf goods according to the expiry dates by following the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method, which will help you to keep the shelf organized for easy picking. Remove the expiry items from the shelves and report the quantity and amount to the supervisor, and upload them into the system.
• Keeping the hallways clean and tidy, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning the shelves and racks are some of your responsibilities. Replace broken price tags or shelf trackers and check the prices which are recently updated in the system that have to be matched in the physical price tags.
• Working as a team will help to keep the retail operations smooth and help each other during peak hours, weekends, and evenings; it could be packing help, pulling a trolley for a customer, or guiding a customer. It’s not all about just picking throughout the day.
• Be friendly and polite with customers thats comes to the store, even your working under pressure during high-volume order pickings.

Picker Job Requirements

• Min 1-2 years of experience in retails industry, warehouse industry, or relevant e-commerce platform experience that matches this role. Experience as a picker is an advantage.
• Secondary high school education or diploma. It’s not about how educated; it’s about the capability of accuracy and consistency.
• Good command of English to communicate with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision during busy hours.
• Willing to work on a flexible schedule.
• Knowledge of retail products of different temperatures, brand categories, dry, and liquid.
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel and spreadsheets to input data and send the reports.
• Knowing how to handle an RF gun and barcode scanners, plus experience with POS, is not mandatory.
• The candidate has to relocate to Sharjah before the job starts.

The person has to be physically fit and in good health. This job requires bending, lifting heavy objects, and standing for long hours. Working under pressure with minimal errors is one of the major considerations. One wrong pick could lead to a disappointed review by and custome, which gives a negative vibe to the company. Being accurate, fast picking, understanding the customer suggestions and requirements, and fulfilling the orders will create a smooth operation for everyone.

Salary & Benifits

Monthly Salary will be 2000 AED (tax-free), which includes company benefits as per UAE labour law regulations. This package does not include extra working hours and holiday compensation.
